Labelled and Stamped HW (Heavyweight) boxes from during 70’s hold a special place in Subbuteo history. They exhibit a diverse array of fonts and lettering and many teams where stamped and or labelled with variations in the font as mentioned but also what was stamped or labelled on the Box, each telling a unique story. These stamped boxes, along with labels, served multiple purposes:
Firstly, they were integral to the C100 Special Service. This service allowed shops to request 50 custom teams, potentially resulting in thousands of uncatalogued teams. Despite extensive research by Paul Lloyd in the 1990s, details on this service have unfortunately been lost over time.
Secondly, They were were essential for identifying new iterations of catalogue teams or those outside the numbered range. For instance, teams like New Coventry, not initially included in the reference range, required stamped boxes for recognition at the time…
Its all guesswork from me and deciding how to divide these into different pages was a task on its self to decide whats the best way to do so any other ideas let me know…
This comprehensive section will encompass various types stamped and labelled boxes and the teams within them. Firstly I will do pages Regarding Stamped boxes and the different type of labels… These will be everything I find stamped and or labelled regardless of the range so World Cup teams will be included and for example including those for international ranges and those covered in the Italian stamped box range from when Parodi introduced to Italy.
I also will do a separate section for uncatalogued teams these will group together any teams known to be from the Special Service page and teams that may not be special service but where that didn’t appear as well as oddities not catalogued and unknown…
This section may come across as a mess a bit like this part of the Range.. but if you like Stamped boxes and Labelled boxes then stick around for the pictures
