The best thing to emerge from Subbuteo since its revival in 2012… These were sadly discontinued in 2016 (Until Longshore brought out an England Team in 2020). Among the teams, Arsenal and Liverpool represented the last iterations, featuring their 2015/16 kits, and were also included in box sets. These box sets marked the first club-based sets in the UK since the Man Utd sets in Subbuteo’s original run.

One issue encountered was the timing of some team releases, with certain teams being introduced too late or reflecting outdated kits due to the fast-paced nature of modern football. This was particularly evident with the 2012/13 teams. (Not being released till 2013/14 season luckily for Arsenal they used the same kit for two years (I miss those days)

In the modern range, organizing teams alphabetically is more convenient than following their release order or the wonky Reference system…

Regarding Peter Upton’s page mentioning a third Chelsea team for 2012/2013, discussions with Chelsea team collector Simon Goodman indicate otherwise. As of now, there’s no evidence to support the existence of such a team unless proven otherwise.
