NewFooty – Later Numbered Celluloid’s (1953 – 1963)

With New Footy moving to One Piece bases from 1953 This lead to a slight revision of the player … A number was added to the back of the players shirt… “1953 type” players again used Transparent Celluloid and like the Numberless Celluloid a major Downside of the Transparent Celluold was the fact that the Detail from one side could often be seen through the image on the other side. This was how it stayed until the end of NewFooty…
This New bases were one-piece bases looked much more like the Subbuteo Bases of the time… They were however were smaller in diameter, and still had a lead component of the base was still visible from underneath unlike Subbuteo of which was all plastic. The Lead in the bases meant that despite the smaller size, the base was far heavier than the Subbuteo equivalent. Due to the Design and the weight of the Lead Bottom they were nowhere near as good as the Subbuteo bases as it was difficult to flick the figure any distance and as Keith Littler Showed in one of the TFM Episodes nearly impossible to spin… On the plus side, it was almost impossible for the players to fall over if assembled correctly so thats a plus side to the bases… One thing that NewFooty’s Bases had in the looks department was the fact these bases came at times with swirls of a different colour within the base… but not always.

This was how the Flat Celluloid Player would stay until the end of NewFooty in 1963 (When Crestlin Ltd Folded)

(NewFooty Never Laid there Teams out as you can tell from the rest of the Newfooty section but this one was a bit easier to put together… They never laid it out in a Reference Style Listing Like Subbuteo only a List of Kits available in no real order This Page is in the Order of the 1956/57 Catalogue of which at the time had 28 teams in the range anything else will be after the 28 teams listed on that catalogue… this I feel is the best way to do it Thank You Simon Goodman for Suggesting The Best way to lay out this page and for providing the bulk of the Pictures)
