Lightweight Range Ref 601-830

The Lightweight Range is massive here is the 3rd and final section on the Lw’s and there variations and versions….

Handpainted teams had all but finished by now with a few popping up less and by this stage they are nearly non existent. Sadly the final one was released in 1986 Ref 633 Reading… The end of the Long road of Handpainted Subbuteo teams…

As we approached the 90’s and into the 90’s the way teams were released started to change it became more and more common practice to release the teams on the Same Reference Number for Example Arsenal 2nd 743 has 4 different kits so from roughy 700 expect to see multiple different kits on the same reference… A smart idea from Subbuteo logically but can make it harder to know how many versions of a certain reference has when collecting… If they didn’t do this the rang could have easily hit Ref 1000 and beyond…

Ref 829 appears fairly often on Ebay or the Facebook Groups But Ref 830 non existent… Its believed by some to not exist others extremely rare…. There was one that floated about on Facebook that was a clear fake with someone having a go with the old marker pen… It was quickly dismissed by the community… I’ve used the pic from the LW book as the most likely Ref 830 pic but who knows for sure….

The Continuity of the Reference numbering sadly came to an end in 1996 with Hasbro taking over and Starting again… But you can find out that in the Hasbro section…

As the Lightweight Range evolved, some references remained in circulation until the end, while others appeared and disappeared over time.
