Italian Heavyweight Production

Edilio Parodi played a pivotal role in introducing Subbuteo to Italians during the 1970s. Through his toy company in Genoa, Imported and then Produced Subbuteo in Italy, thus igniting the interest of many Italians in the hobby. While Parodi initially imported most Subbuteo items from the UK, his workers eventually began producing and painting their own teams. These teams first featured a stamped name range, later evolving into their own catalog of teams known as the 500s range. Additionally, you have to thank Parodi for the original 191-195 conundrum when cataloging the Hw range, These teams on these references only appeared on them in the Italian catalogue, with the teams only appearing in Uk catalogues on their permanent reference homes (They were still produced but only Stamped as “New — ”

The name Parodi has become synonymous with Subbuteo, and they continue to produce their own Subbuteo successor today through Zeugo.
