Hasbro, who took over in 1996, released a few Special Edition teams that were not part of the regular catalogue. Some of these came in box sets, like the Yellow Deluxe Edition Team or the Manchester United second team from the 2000/2001 season, which was part of a box set. Others were available as teams you could buy or send away for, like the Tango Barmy Fc team. Speaking of the Manchester United second team, it was inaccurate to the actual away kit of the season, unlike the home shirt from the same set, which was spot on. The away kit in the Subbuteo set seemed to be based on the previous season’s (1999/2000) design but in the wrong color— it should have been blue, and the sponsor at that time was still Sharp for that season instead of Vodafone of which was United’s Sponsor from 2000/2001. So, this one goes down as a Subbuteo oddity, though I’ll admit it still looked decent as a Subbuteo figure.
