NewFooty was struggling by the Turn of the decade and 1961 was the year in which the original Newfooty Company had to vacate its premises and cease trading (1929-1961) However the Game didn’t die there… Will Keeling was not going to give up on his creation and all that history and Brand Recognition that easily, and so a new company “Crestlin Ltd” was formed to sell his range of games once more. The Game was Still NewFooty and nothing changed just the “Parent” Company…
Subbuteo had released there first 3d Players (OHW) in 1961 and were proving to be popular… So Crestlin brought out there own players to compete of which are now Commonly known as the Crestlin Figure and to a far lesser extent the NewFooty 3d Figure. These were planned before the Original NewFooty firm packed up so possibly before Subbuteo Released there Ohw’s perhaps it was a type of Arms race in the Table Football world… (Ok that last bit is speculation on my part) .. The Design of the figures was Meant to be to be an “action pose”, like the celluloid flats. However, They look more like someone being caught short… Their ankles were very weak so the figures prone to breaking. (I don’t think i have ever seen a team pop up on Ebay without at least one reglue) The figure ill-fits the old style of Newfooty base, and the legs are indeed extremely fragile. A Very Sad end to the Newfooty Dynasty… but maybe a few more years they would have sorted that making the figure stronger and better looking…. Subbuteo Managed that so maybe Crestlin
